So I waded into they mysterious world of resin pendant making…I think they turned out quite nicely but i still have a few bugs to work out. Luckily my SO helped with the actual house bending and then i gessoed the little backgrounds, added the images and words, sealed them, waited for them to dry and then we did a batch of resin pouring. Resin is very toxic smelling, and well, is toxic. We really need to invest
in a mask if we are going to get into this in bigger quantities…or do our pouring outside. I think it is very important to seal the images really, really well as i did notice some colour shifts in the backgrounds, some of the images also became slightly transparent, the resin isn’t perfect either…all of this works for me but it is very unpredictable, making for very rustic little housies (which i love, personally)! I also bought a bag of glass bubbles to make some pendants and xmas ornaments with and have also made about 50 clay house pendants while at my practicum! They are being fired next week and then i will be glazing them on Friday…and then, oh i can’t wait to see how they turn out! We are planning to take part in an actual craft fair in December, so that should be interesting…to say the least! Yes, we are in full production mode around here, James also wants to make some books and blank journals to sell! And on top of all this crafty madness i have some new painting ideas, a triptych to finish and a commissioned portrait to do! Not to mention xmas and all that entails…oh yeah, and full time classes! Holy Toledo, what am i doing on the computer? Anyway, let me know what you think of the housey pendants. Seeya!
